Kelly Wood took to the track in her Intrepid 4 cycle chassis and cruised to a victory in the rain at TKC.
Grey skies and the promise of rain greeted everyone at Goodwood for TKC Race #2. Jumping into her new chassis for the first practice, Kelly took to the track in cool, but dry conditions, and with no time to test, was on the pace straight away. With hardly any time to make changes, session two came around followed by qualifying. 3rd row of the grid was the result of a dry qualifying run with only three tenths separating the top five.
The sky opened and down came the rain. With no previous experience in her new chassis, a wet set up was dialled in. By now, ponds not puddles had developed on the track creating an interesting start to the Pre Final with visibility at almost 0. Kelly quickly took the lead before completing lap one, and with consistent lap times, cruised to a 1st place finish.
Starting on pole for the Final, the rain was still persistent. On the opening lap of the race, Kelly fell back to 2nd place after driving through a giant puddle; it quickly became clear it is not the fastest route! However, she was able to reel in the leader, take to the lead and finish in a comfortable 1st place.
