It's one thing to run an oval on your own, getting used to the very different style of driving a 3000lb stock car, but for Kelly's second outing in a limited late model, it was time to run with another car to see how she dealt with driving at 90mph with doors and fenders scraping.
Running a couple of sessions on her own to get back in the groove of the oval, it was then time for Kelly to mix it up with another car. Entering the track together and running half-paced laps, Kelly was very comfortable with the close proximity of the other car and just two sessions later both cars were running close to full speed. Kelly is very fortunate to have such a great driving coach and with Rino's many years of stock car experience she feels completely at ease while on the track with him.
"A stock car is just an oversized Honda go kart," Kelly said as she got out of the car after another session of banging wheels.
The last run on the track was certainly the roughest with Rino forcing the issue many times in the corner and on the straight. A 3000lb stock car sideways takes some driving and Kelly certainly has some idea how this feels. Thank you Rino!
Stock car is now the chosen path for Kelly and the 2008 season will be made up with a series of tests and races with an ambition to run NASCAR in the future.
