Kelly Wood Named Development Driver for Wide Open Motorsports; #9 Mark Dilley.
Kelly has been named as a development driver for Wide Open Motorsports. At a recent Late Model test session, veteran NASCAR driver Mark Dilley was very impressed by the talent and maturity shown by this young 18 year old driver. "She is showing the abilities of drivers with years of experience already," stated mentor Mark Dilley. "She has a great future in racing and with some further tutoring and a couple of years under her belt I fully expect Kelly to be racing with the best in Canada.
Having now relocated to the Uxbridge area, a full season of Late Model racing has been planned for 2009 at Kawartha Speedway. "Last Season was great and I certainly learned a lot," said Kelly." But this year is going to be tough racing against these guys who have been racing ovals for many years, myself and my team have so much to learn."
As well as Kelly's racing this year, a Show Car Program has been scheduled. Kelly and the team's first appearance will be at the Canadian International Auto Show Feb 13-23. "This is the first of many shows for the year; the show car will give me the opportunity to showcase my racing," said Kelly.
