Finally back to racing after a two week break of rain outs, the sun was shinning and a large turn out of cars and full stands was going to make it a great night of racing.
With good practice sessions and an off pole start for the heat, Kelly was feeling very confident about this race. She made a great start off the line and made her way into 1st position by lap 1. The car was handling well as she started to pull away from the field, a couple of cautions were waved and she went on to cross the finish line in 1st place.
Starting in 4th place for the Semi Feature, she made a good start but was left on the outside for a few laps loosing 3 spots. After that she maintained her position for the remainder of the race, finishing in a solid 7th place.
With 29 cars lining up for the feature, it was going to be an interesting race. Starting 7th, Kelly made a good start and after an early caution found herself up to 4th. Following the restart and several hard contacts with other cars, and an unfortunate spin in front of her, it left no where to go causing heavy front damage, and the water temp started to climb resulting in her pulling into the pits for repairs. Rejoining the race at the back, Kelly soon radioed in that the car had a handling problem and pulled off the track.
"Overall I think the evening went well, continuing to learn, improve and race with these guys is definitely teaching me about the skills needed to compete in Late Model racing."
