F1200: Wood Tests Formula 1200 Car at Mosport

BOWMANVILLE, ONT. (October 1, 2007) - Kelly Wood, the Toronto Kart Club Rotax and Senior Lite Champion, recently took part in Formula 1200 test day at Mosport International Raceway.

Under sunny skies Wood took to the track, Friday, September 28th, for her first taste of open-wheel racing. Using the session to get acclimated to the car and the fast 2.459-mile road course, she sported a huge smile when she rolled into pitlane and exited the car. The next session featured a very wet track, following a heavy downpour, but again she proved that a wet track was not going to slow her down. Session three followed and Wood's times continued to get better as she gained confidence in the car and received feedback from the Vallis Motor Sport team. Having worked very hard this year on her strength and fitness, it certainly showed, as there were no signs of fatigue after completing another full 25 minute run on the track. Unfortunately this would prove the final time on track for Wood, as very dark clouds and heavy rain forced the test day to an early end.

Wood, in only her second season of karting and with less than 12 months of seat time, impressed many with her performance and attitude both in and out of the car during the test, earning her novice race license. She is now looking to step up to the next level of competitive motor sport and over the winter months will be sitting down with her family to decide what path to take for the 2008 season.

Wood would like to thank the Toronto Kart Club for a fantastic day and for giving her the opportunity to test the F1200, as well as Bill Vallis (Vallis Motor Sport) and Harry O'Neal for their help, encouragement and patience.
